ode: 106316 TitleAdvances in Multimedia Forensics and Deepfakes detection
AbstractThe diffusion of easy-to-use editing tools accessible to a wider a
nd wider public induced in the last  decade growing issues about the depen
dability of digital media. Concerns recently reached an unprecedented leve
l thanks to the development of a new class of artificial intelligent techn
iques capable of producing high quality fake images and videos (e.g.\, Dee
pfakes) without requiring any specific technical know-how from the users.
Moreover\, nowadays digital media strongly contribute to the viral diffusi
on of information through social media and web channels\, and play a funda
mental role in the digital life of individuals and societies. Thus\, the n
ecessity of developing tools to preserve the trustworthiness  of  digital
media  shared  on  social  media  and web platforms is a need that our so
ciety can no longer ignore. This talk will provide an overview on some res
ults with the objective to scale multimedia forensics analysis to real-wor
ld open systems\, thus including  not  only  media  tampering  operations
producing deceptive  visual  information  performed  with  various tools/
software\, but also routinely  applied  operations such as sharing through
popular web channels like social media. This seminar aims at describing r
ecent development on AI-enabled multimedia forensics presenting new techni
ques for media forgery detection and source identification together with t
he study of adversarial attacks on deep learning systems. BiosketchIrene A
merini is Assistant Professor at Department of Computer\, Control\, and Ma
nagement Engineering Antonio Ruberti\, Sapienza University of Rome\, Italy
. Previously\, she was a senior postdoctoral researcher at Image Forensics
and Security Lab\, Media Integration and Communication Center\, Universit
y of Florence (Italy).  In 2018 she obtained a Visiting Research Fellowshi
p at the School of Computing and Mathematics\, Charles Sturt University (A
 U) offered by the Australian Government – Department of Education and Trai
ning through the Endeavour Scholarship & Fellowship program. In 2010 she s
pent part of her PhD course at the Digital Data Embedding Laboratory\, Dep
artment of Electrical and Computer Engineering\, Binghamton University (US
). She received the Ph.D. in computer engineering\, multimedia and telecom
munication from the University of Florence in 2011. Her research interests
are focused on multimedia forensics and deep learning for image and video
analysis. She is member of the IEEE Information Forensics and Security Te
chnical Committee\, EURASIP TAC Biometrics\, Data Forensics and Security a
nd of the IAPR TC6 - Computational Forensics Committee. She is a Guest Edi
tor of several international journals and Associate Editor of the Journal
of Information Security and Applications\, IEEE ACCESS and Journal of Elec
 tronic Imaging journals.
