DESCRIPTION:Carissime e carissimi\,vi invito a partecipare al seminario pub
 5 - Dipartimento d Ingegneria Informatica Automatica e Gestionale 'A. Rube
rti'.Il seminario si svolgerà giovedì 11 luglio 2024 alle ore 12:00 in aul
a B101 al DIAG e sarà possibile seguirlo per via  telematica su Googl Meet
  all'indirizzo: https://meet.google.com/iyx-ysyn-kfaAbstractTraditional we
b applications are based on a client/server architecture in which servers
act as trusted entities in charge of maintaining the correct state of the
system. Unfortunately\, servers can be corrupted at any time or they can b
e attacked acting against their will and this has relevant economic conseq
uences for business. To address this issue\, in the last decades\, researc
hers have investigated how to design systems that do not rely anymore on a
single trusted party (i.e.\, decentralized applications) but rely\, inste
ad\, on decentralized technologies (e.g. blockchain) and new cryptographic
primitives\, such as zkSNARK. We will initially discuss how to manage the
identity of users in decentralized settings\, then we will investigate th
e role of content provenance in such settings. Content provenance guarante
es the origin of a digital asset and all the history of its legit transfor
mations. When users can rely on a strong reputation\, content provenance c
an be easily assured but as soon as trust is limited\, such as in decentra
lized scenarios\, new solutions are needed. Finally\, in the seminar\, we
will discuss new solutions to guarantee content provenance specifically fo
r images and how to exploit such solutions to support a decentralized mark
etplace of confidential assets that are fairly exchanged on the blockchain
.BioMarco Zecchini is a researcher in blockchain technologies and applied
cryptography at the University of Salerno\, working under the supervision
of Prof. Ivan Visconti. He received a Ph.D. in Data Science at the Univers
ity of Rome\, 'La Sapienza\,' under the supervision of Prof. Andrea Vitale
tti. He also served as a guest researcher for six months at the Technical
University of Hamburg in the “CDL-BOT” laboratory directed by Stefan Schul
te. His current scientific interests include applied cryptography\, verifi
able computation and zero-knowledge proofs\, particularly in the context o
 f blockchain and web applications.
